Quick! Hardest algorithm you've learned!

Don't stop and think... what was the hardest algorithm you had to learn for any programming-related topic?

right now, it's dealing with recursion and indirect recursion contest problems

Loops. They were pretty hard compared to other programming algorithms.

AC-3 with backtracking. Not terribly difficult, but my experience is sadly limited...

If I knew how to write a letrec, I might say that... maybe. Or it might not be that difficult... dunno

I'm not sure if it's fair to say ECM factoring... since I've never actually made it work properly. ops:

I dont have one...I usually just feel the flow as I program, I dont see why I should have standard algorithms unless its to meet a standard...and even then why cant we improve? Isnt that what Computer Science and programming is all about?

I no longer even have all the test code. But I learned years ago testing is the way to ... Granted it may be one of the harder parts (if it works) but you have not shown,

Two matroid intersection.
I understood how the algorithm do what it does, but until now it's not clear for my WHY it works [its correctness] =s

Most of the greedy algorythims. I love backtracking, dynamic programming, Graphs, everything, but i hate greedy. I never understood what's with it, why is it so important, and which is it's phylosophy.
