Ant Colony & Bee Algorithms

Dear members

does anyone know a differences of bee algorithms and ACO in details for optimization problems
in generally "Can we solve every problems that solved in ACO via Bee Algorithm?"
Thank you very much!

Re: Ant Colony & Bee Algorithms

I've never heard of a Bee algorithm. Is there any particularly good site to check?

Hmm...
They seem to be very different, as far as two swarm intelligence algorithms based on social species goes. But they both seem to be good for quick combinatorial optimization, so there's probably a lot of overlap in application. Bee colony algorithms seem to be better for real-time task-switching, and for scheduling tasks...

But I could be talking out of my ass...

Re: Ant Colony & Bee Algorithms

Hi Guys, check out these URLs for an example of Particle Swarm Optimization versus Ant Colony Optimization. They are related but one is used for continuous space problems whereas the other is used for discrete space solutions.

PSO is used for instance in aerodynamic profiles and shapes optimization whereas ACO lends itself to stuff like the traveling salesman problem

Unfortunately, those links don't work for me - not sure whether you were hosting the material on your own machine, but that'd be nice if you could upload them somewhere on a remote server so that we can have a look at these nice applets. Thanks !

Re: Ant Colony & Bee Algorithms

Their main difference is that Bee Algorithms bees use a waggle dance and directional cues while Ant colony uses pheromones to communicate and navigate.
