Wow, this topic doesn't have much.

So... from what I can tell my DSL modem has gone sour, so I had to resort to using my backup dial-up. I work online and really have to get back up and running (at a reasonable speed) rather quickly. I hate when I don't have time to research, look for best prices, etc. I don't have time to get something shipped cheap online either.

But I did want to check reviews and such. But everything out there runs so dang slow on dial-up that I've given up on about every place I've gone to. I hang around MMF and it works with dial up, so I thought I'd come over here.

Can someone make some recommendations? I don't want anything fancy - no router, no wireless, etc. Just a plain DSL modem. I'm more concerned about good quality than fancy features, though I also want to stay reasonable on price. And maybe the best place to get it. The tech guy of course told me to go to the AT&T store, though they may be expensive.

Re: Modems

Hi Erimess

DSL modems are on sale on Amazon and some of them have a lot of customer reviews.
A good deal (DSL modem with routing capabilities) seems to be Actiontec GT701D selling for 39,99 USD (used for 24.5 USD) (link to the modem on Amazon:

207 5-star
48 4-star
17 3-star
17 2-star
47 1-star

Most importantly before buying a DSL modem you should check with your Internet Service Provider which models are supported (or best supported). A reason why feedback for modems usually include a lot of 1 star reviews is that some models don't function well with certain types of providers.
