Re: preventing spam email

Sorry of I was insulting, I just see these forums and the math forums littered with people posting links to their own products and such.

Here is an issue, most places that require an email for signup recognize domains which are used for these fake email addresses. The route I go is this:

Make a new gmail account used purely for signing up for sites. You can then just give that email out and never worry about spam getting into your actual email address. You just need to log into it for those sites where you need to click an activation link that they sent to you.

Even better if your normal account is gmail as well, you can setup your account to grab the email from your fake account and filter it all into a single folder and skip the inbox. That way, you don't see the spam directly, can just check it when you want, and don't have to log into your spam account to do so. Its like having a more managed spam folder.

Re: preventing spam email

The bigger the site, the more likily they will recognize fake emails. Its all a matter of how the (the site in question) want to do things. By setting up a secondary email acount for this purpose at a highly recognized and approved domain such as gmail you shouldn't have those issues.
