Starting Issue in my Laptop

Hi

Laptop is dell, about 2 years old. I've never had any serious problems at all. I have 2 laptops. The 1 in question is used stationary with a mouse and external monitor.

I have a modem provided by my ISP and use a Linksys router.

I was having problems with my internet. Pages would not load and i had to wait a few minutes or flip the modem on or off. This is not unusual. My ISP sucks.

It was doing it a lot yesterday, more than normal. I 'restarted' the computer and as it was logging off it said 'Conflicting Ip address's on this system(or something like that)." It then restarted fine. It was working fine for hours then the internet acted up and it was 'shut down.'

When turning back on it starts up fine until it gets to my desktop. It then stays there, on my blank desktop page(no icons, totally blank) nothing happens. I should be getting the box to type in my password but it just stops. I have my mouse cursor though.

Any Help ?
Thanks in Advance

Re: Starting Issue in my Laptop

Do you have dynamic or static IP?
Also, if there were no icons on your desktop, that's a Windows Explorer failure.
My best guess is you're being hacked, but I'm sure there's more logical reasons.
What operating system do you use?

You need to reinstall the operating system. It will be due to the viruses that the processing error has occurred in your laptop.
