simple pari-GP code question

help (easy?)
using pari, I have a filled list L and tried the following code

for ( j5=1, j5<length(L),

if( L[j5]....) etc...

it complains at "j5<length(L)" saying improper compare of t_pol vs t_int

workaround?? CRG?
