SEO: but, which search engine is the best so far?

I was thinking of Google. Since Google is one of the number 1 search engine used by majority of people around the world, SEO for Google seems very efficient, even compared to the good ones (like Bing for example).

Re: SEO: but, which search engine is the best so far?

As far as Search Engine Optimization is concerned, Google has been the best website traffic provider for quite a long time already. Statistically speaking, I can tell you that 90% of my search engine traffic comes from Google, another maybe 5% from Yahoo, another 5% or so from Bling, and a tiny percentage of my web traffic is provided by the search engine Ask (occasionally, I might receive a few visitors from the Chinese search engine Baidu as well).
What is quite interesting to see is that Bing is performing much better than its predecessor Live Search ... however, given the inertia reached by Google, i doubt Bing will ever be able to truly compete (but that'd be good for webmasters).

According to your statistics, 90% is pretty high for an search engine! I guess I have to agree with you that Google has been one of the best website traffic provider. I haven't used Bing much, but I will take a look at it in the near future.

And on my computer forum, almost all the incoming traffic from search engines comes from Google (the rest comes essentially from Bing, there's close to no traffic coming from yahoo). Even though there's not much traffic sent via search engines yet, the bulk of it is from Google ...

Re: SEO: but, which search engine is the best so far?

There's also probably a link between the social background and education of your internet visitors and their likelihood to prefer Google over Yahoo, etc ... For instance, have you heard of the search engine wolfram alpha ? It allows people to search for "pre-organized data" based on factual questions rather than mere links (urls) pointing to sources of information on the web.
At this date, mymathforum is receiving around 96% of its search engines traffic from google, 0.8% from Yahoo, 0.6% from Google Images and 0.3% from Windows Live (these are the accurate statistics).

without a doubt , the Big G is the best in general.

what's interesting tho is that people that search in google are different than in yahoo, google users focus on searching and yahoo users focus on interaction.

Re: SEO: but, which search engine is the best so far?

Let's hope that Bing or some other competitor will be able to grab enough market share in order to offer a real alternative on the search engine market ... this will benefit website owners since this will hedge against the risk of being dropped out of Google's index.
