IBM Thinkpad or ...

I will need to buy a new laptop soon and since I've been working for IBM recently I could experience their Thinkpad series and I find them amazing ... the only thing is that they are quite expensive as compared with the average price of the computers that are on the market today. I was wondering whether I should really go for it (I think they're well worth the money) or whether the cheaper alternatives out there provide an equivalent quality (I haven't bought a laptop since 2005, so I'm quite unfamiliar with the quality of the computers on the market right now ...)

I've been into Lenovo link, and it shows some really good ThinkPad laptops. It looks like a great choice for business computing. Also, there are some laptops out there that are suitable for heavy online gaming (which is powerful), and with reasonable prices. Have you looked into this type of laptops yet?

Re: IBM Thinkpad or ...

I own a Lenovo T60 and my manager has a Lenovo T400 dua core (a freak computer !). Looking at the link you gave in your previous message, it looks like the W series is extremely powerful. Besides the capabilities, what I enjoy a lot with those Lenovo computers is the ergonomy of their keyboards. Well, I'll see ...

Yes, those keyboards does look pretty ergonomic indeed. I bet it's also easy to carry those laptops around, not too heavy.

Actually, the only thing I don't link about those IBM Lenovo laptops is their battery which always sticks out ... quite not so stylish.

I'd rather go with cheaper alternatives with the same quality and durability, in this recession we need to know how to save money right?

Yes, saving money on a laptop could be important, too.

personally speaking,i think the affordable is also very important besides the quality. there are many different brands of laptops.i think HP is excellent, whichI has been using. There is no serious quality problem. the price is cheaper than that of IBM.

When purchasing a computer I am not necessarily looking for the cheapest but I am trying to maximize the quality/price ratio.
