Alternatives to MySQL databases

Postby julien » Tue Aug 04, 2009 12:19 pm

What are good alternatives to MySQL databases for web development ? I find MySQL databases good enough but there are quite a few bugs here and there which sometimes make it quite inconvenient ... anything more "robust" ?

I don`t think that not using MySql is a good idea because now 99% of the web hosting providers have it installed and if you are selling the script you can`t really sell one that isn`t using MySql.

I am currently using Microsoft Access databases in a corporate environment and they really offer a robust environment for business (Excel integration is made very easy, which proves terribly useful for business). Not sure about how robust they are at handling massive data flows, though.
