Linux server administration help

Hello,

Could anyone recommend a good book about linux server administration ? I will have to go for (at least) a VPS server quite soon and I am not familiar with Linux at all (not to mention the specifics of server administration). I'd like a resource that would allow me to learn from scratch the basics of server administration (I do not need to be an expert but I want to have a reasonable understanding of how things work). Thanks !

The only book I read was linux bible. I assume that all the linux books will cover that, just go to your book store and take a look

Thanks a lot for the recommendation ! A few months ago, I found a rather comprehensive book on Linux but I haven't installed any Linux version on my new laptop yet. Which version would you recommend for a beginner ?

As the currently most popular Linux distribution (~30% market share) is also one of the easiest ones to use, I suggest you give it a try: Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/)

Thank you Franck, that's actually what I ended up doing on my machine (dual boot installation with Linux Ubuntu).
